Conscious jewelry

Hand curated by artisans in Kenya.

Our jewelry design philosophy seeks to integrate ecological principles and practices into the entire design process, from conception to implementation and beyond. The aim is to find innovative solutions that harmonize our design activities with the surrounding ecosystems and provide opportunities for the makers.

Let us make your designs come to life.

Dream up a design, choose your gem, pick your metal and let us create some alchemy.

Ecological practices

All our gemstones are responsibly sourced from local, small scale miners in Kenya and all our metals are upcycled.

We Incorporate design features that facilitate recycling and minimize waste generation, encouraging a circular economy approach.

Inspiration

The inspiration for our jewelry derives from our love for antiquities, our travels, nature and ancient wisdom.

We infuse elements of Art, organic forms, history, culture, healing, and love into each piece we design.

Above all, biomimicry is our greatest inspiration, which itself draws inspiration from nature's time-tested patterns, strategies, and structures.

Artisans

We provide skills training & employment to people from underrepresented communities. Our trainees are taught jewelry making disciplines and then offered full-time employment at our jewerly studio situated directly behind our boutique and vegan restaurant.

All our jewelry is hand curated by our artisans and showcased at our boutique.

Bamboo

Our love story with Bamboo.

Because of its remarkable ecological qualities and benefits, we have fallen in love with bamboo and we have big plans for it.

Even though we are still in our teething stage, we have designed & built bamboo furniture, a bamboo outdoor area around an exquisite baobab, and a bamboo washing area. Our goal is to conduct extensive research and experiment with various design techniques so in future we can not only use it for our own purposes but expand our skills training & employment program to include bamboo.

The B A M B O O Farm

We are affiliated with a bamboo farm only a few kilometres away from where we are situated. The farm produces the Dendrocalamus giganteus bamboo specie and treats the bamboo naturally using borax and boric acid.

Why are we obsessed with bamboo?

Meet one of the fastest growing plant on Earth.

  • Environmentally Friendly: Bamboo is a highly sustainable alternative to traditional wood because it regenerates quickly, requires minimal fertilizers, and has a low carbon footprint.

  • Rapid Growth: Some bamboo species are capable of growing up to several feet in just one day. This rapid growth makes it a highly renewable and sustainable resource.

  • Carbon Sequestration: Bamboo is an excellent carbon sequester, absorbing high amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and helping to mitigate the effects of climate change.

  • Versatility: Bamboo is incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications, including construction, furniture, flooring, textiles, paper, and more.

  • Strength and Durability: Despite its lightweight appearance, bamboo is incredibly strong and durable, making it an ideal material for construction and manufacturing.

  • Natural Aesthetics: Bamboo's unique and natural appearance adds a touch of beauty and elegance to various products and architectural designs.

Yes, there’s more…

  • Low Water Requirements: Bamboo typically requires less water than many other plants, making it suitable for areas with limited water resources.

  • Erosion Control: Bamboo's extensive root system helps stabilize soil and prevent erosion, making it an excellent choice for erosion control measures.

  • Biodiversity Support: Bamboo forests provide habitats for various species of plants and animals, promoting biodiversity and supporting local ecosystems.

  • Water Purification: Certain species of bamboo can effectively filter pollutants from water, helping to improve water quality in streams and rivers.

  • Biodegradable and Compostable: Bamboo products are often biodegradable and compostable, reducing waste and pollution in landfills.

  • Health Benefits: Bamboo-based products, such as textiles and bedding, are known for their hypoallergenic and moisture-wicking properties, making them suitable for individuals with sensitive skin.

  • Economic Benefits: Bamboo cultivation and processing provide livelihood opportunities for many communities, especially in rural areas.

  • Noise Absorption: Bamboo has natural sound-absorbing qualities, making it a suitable material for acoustic panels and sound barriers.
