Our People

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity are all important principles and practices that Tribearth aims to create. This is the core of our culture. We believe this is crucial in promoting social justice, combating discrimination, and fostering a more equitable society.

Free skills training: We provide free skills training for a period of 6 -12 months, together with transport and a meal.

Employment: Over 90% of all our workers are from chronically underemployed populations or people subjected to discrimination, such as people living with HIV/AID's & former street kids & youth.

Fair wages: All our staff receive above the minimum wage and our aim is to have all staff above the living wage by 2024.

Benefits: We provide benefits such as monthly loans without interest, wage advances and free medical leave for all staff living with HIV/AID's. Additionally, we also provide bonuses on high profit months

A meal is also offered every day.

Celebrating our people: We celebrate every staff birthday by gifting them a cake and having a staff get-together.

Safe and inclusive spaces: We create safe spaces where our team feel comfortable expressing their identities, sharing their experiences, and engaging in open dialogue. This involves fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and active listening.

Our Supply Chain

By striving to achieve an ethical supply chain, we prioritize social and environmental responsibility, as well as respect for human rights throughout our entire supply chain process. Our primary goal is to ensure that our products are manufactured, sourced, and delivered in a manner that minimizes negative impacts on people, communities, and the environment. How do we do this?

We source all our gemstones directly from small scale miners in Kenya that we have personally visited and vetted.

Supplier selection: We are very serious about our supplier selection process. We only work with local suppliers or local companies that are either majority-owned by women, individuals from underrepresented populations or enterprises/artisans/individuals that are aligned with our environmental standards/policies below.

Transparency and traceability: We require very clear information from our suppliers about the origins of raw materials/products and the practices involved in their production.

Fair labor practices: Through our supplier assessments, we ensure that workers along the supply chain are treated fairly and are not involved in any form of forced labor, child labor or any exploitative practices whatsoever.

Our Environment

We are obsessed with up cycling.

All our jewelry metals, such as brass & silver, are carefully selected from local, recycled metal suppliers and up cycled into enchanting eco designs, interweaved with our ethical gemstones. A majority of our furniture, upholstery, and other interior decorations are also up cycled.

Natural Materials.

Our furniture that is not up cycled, is designed and built in-house using bamboo and other natural materials.

No Plastic. We have an asbolute NO PLASTIC policy at our restaurant and eco studio. No plastic straws, drink bottles, packaging, furniture or interior items. The only plastic we have on our premises is our waste disposal bins.

Eco packaging. Our jewelry packaging is made by our friends over at Imani Collective who produce our draw string jewelry bags from their textile offcuts. Additionally, all our food take-away packaging is made by recycled brown paper.

Waste. We provide waste bins at all our work stations and have set recycling targets for each waste item.

Water. We have water recycling standards & practices and aim to install rain water catchment & grey water systems by the end of 2023.

Power. We have policies in place to use power efficently and aim to have renewal power sources by 2024.

Our Community

Housing development. We support families in low-income communities by improving their current housing infrastructure, such as building extensions to their existing house to make room for their kids to study and more adequate sleeping room.

Youth education. We support youth with high school and university sponsorships. The youth that are part of this program were previously living at the The New Horizon, a children’s home previously run by our founder through her NGO, LocalAid.

Food packages. We donate food packages to low-income families to address food insecurity as many families struggle to access nutritious food consistently, and food assistance programs play a vital role in ensuring their basic nutritional needs are met.

Home items. Many families in the communities we visit lack essential household items, which can impact their quality of life and daily living which is why we provide them with basics, such as bedding, kitchen items & clothing.

GOAL: After visiting and donating food to AfrIcan child, a rescue centre for teenage mothers in Diani, we decided to deepen our relationship with the centre. Our goal is to admit some of the young women into our skills training & employment program once they are ready & fit, spiritually, mentally & emotionally to begin building an independent life.
